A Day at Camp

This past Saturday I accompanied Josiah and the twins to a day at camp! Our church is partnered with another church in the area, and they have a connection to a YMCA camp nearby. They offered a day camp very inexpensively for the kids of both churches. Josiah had so much fun at camp this past summer, so he was very excited to go again!

We left the church via bus at 8:45 a.m. and headed towards the camp.
When we arrived, we started off at the archery range. The weather that day was quite cold with temperatures in the upper 40’s and winds around 15 mph. It felt more like it was 40 degrees out!
We had lots of fun shooting! The bow I’m lining up in the above photo turned out to be a bulls-eye!

After their time at the range, they hiked into the woods and had a long discussion on wilderness survival. They even started a fire using twigs, leaves, lint, and Doritos (yes, Doritos. J Something about the oil in the chips makes a good fire starter.)
After that we ate our sack lunches inside the lodge. Everyone was quite thankful for a bit of warmth after several hours out in the cold.

Following lunch, the kids headed over to the zip line. This was definitely the highlight for Josiah! J
Since there were so many kids and only one line, it took 2 hours for all the kids in our group to go once. They waited for a long time in the tower!

After standing out in the cold for two hours, I was completely numb and some of my joints were starting to get very stiff. The kids jumped in the bounce house for a little bit before we got on the bus and left around 3:30 p.m. Despite the cold, they really kept a positive attitude all day. They had a lot of fun!
