Recipe--Banana Chocolate Chip Bread

This is Daddy’s favorite sweet bread. It is a far cry from healthy, so we usually eat it as a dessert. We especially enjoy it on Friday nights after our homemade pizza and popcorn dinner. You can try this recipe, or add chocolate chips to your preferred banana nut bread recipe. I hope you enjoy it!

Banana Chocolate Chip Bread

2 cups ripe mashed bananas
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
½ cup butter, softened
½ cup oil
6 Tablespoons milk
4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1-12 oz. package semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Preheat oven to 350°F. Cream sugar, eggs, butter, and oil in a large bowl. Beat until fluffy. Set aside. Combine bananas and milk in a small bowl. Set aside. Combine flour, baking powder, and baking soda in a small bowl. Stir by hand into creamed mixture alternately with banana mixture until flour is just moistened. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Grease 3 loaf pans. Divide batter into pans.

Bake 350°F for 1 hour. Cool in pans for 10 minutes. Remove from pans; cool on racks. Slices better the next day and freezes well.
