(4/17/12) Tuesday
This morning Dad, Ben, and I left around 7:45 a.m. to go to the gym onboard the ship. We worked out for about an hour. I walked and ran on the treadmill for about ½ an hour while the boys did weights. Then we ran a mile on the outdoor track. It was so cool to run and feel the ocean breezes and see the views all around you! We did some cool downs and headed up to our rooms to shower.
Meanwhile, the rest of the family was at a “character breakfast" in one of the dining rooms.
They were able to meet lots of characters like Shrek and Fiona. Photo Credit: Betsy. |

They also met Puss-in-Boots. Photo Credit: Betsy. |
After their breakfast, they met us in the rooms. Then we went up to the Windjammer so those of us who exercised could eat as well. I had a fried egg on an English muffin, fruit, yogurt, bacon, sausage, and orange juice (sorry, no picture this time.) We went back to the room to grab a few things and then headed to the kids’ parade on the Royal Promenade.
We saw stilts walkers. . . |
. . . characters from the movie “Madagascar”. . . |
. . . and characters from Kung Fu Panda, among others. It was a lot of fun for everyone! |
After the parade, we split up. Our family decided to walk around the ship and see everything there was to see. I really miss the amazing views we had of the ocean! |
This photo was taken from the back of the ship. It leaves a huge wake behind it! |
The soft-serve frozen-yogurt machine called my name as we passed by. J |
This is just a small view of the pools on the sports deck (Deck 15). The pool you see was the Beach pool. It had a sloped entry and was filled with salt water. |
We went up to the chapel on our self-guided tour. It was very peaceful. |
Mirrors beg for self-portraits. As a note, the earrings I’m wearing are the ones I bought at the Bahamian straw market. I really like them! |
There were a lot of neat art displays throughout the ship. |
We went up to one of the lounges on the 18th deck. It was SO quiet compared to the rest of the ship. This is a quiet place to sit down and read (although we never found time to do that.) |
I like this picture because of the silhouettes and the view behind us. Photo Credit: Roma. |
Here is a view of the Boardwalk and Aqua Theatre. The zip-line on the ship goes from the “A” in Allure to beyond the bottom right corner of the photo. |
We all had fun trying the zip line after our walk! Here, our cousin E gives it a try. It was a fairly short line, but it was still fun soaring 8 or 9 floors above the ground! |
Following lunch, we walked along the Boardwalk towards the rock-climbing walls. They have a real carousel onboard! |
All of us kids gave the rock wall a try. Please don’t ask how high I made it. J Roma and our cousin E made it all the way to the top and rang the bell. |
After working so hard on the wall, we went out for ice cream at a little 50’s-style parlor. I had a scoop of mango sorbet and strawberry sorbet. It was quite refreshing! |
Then it was time to continue our tour of the ship. It is impossible for our family to go anywhere without finding books. So we made sure to stop at the library! |
We also stopped at a theater called Studio B. During the day, they have the ice rink open for skating. At night, they have ice shows! We were even able to watch the Zamboni at work on the ice. |
We made our way back to the rooms to freshen up for dinner and relax our feet awhile.
At dinner they served pesto rolls for an appetizer. |
I also had a creamy garlic soup with croutons. |
For my main entrée, I had lamb shank with mint jelly on the side, roasted vegetables, and mashed potatoes. The presentation was beautiful! |
During dinner, out waiters sang and did a bit of a dance for us! They made the evening lots of fun. |
Tonight they also recognized my Grandparents’ anniversary with a song and cake. |
For dessert, I had warm chocolate cake with chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream (not pictured). It was superb! |
After dinner we went up to our rooms and had another planning discussion about tomorrow. We had accidently lost our tickets for the excursion we were going on, so Dad and Uncle J had to go to the desk to get them reprinted. We just relaxed, journaled, and went to bed. We are all really excited about our stop in St. Thomas tomorrow!

sounds like you, your Dad, and Ben were losing weight, while the others were putting it on at the "character breakfast". Sound delicious, though. I'll ask my mom if we can try that sometime..... :D
We all had a good laugh over your comment, Lydia! :-) If you ever talk your Mom into letting you have chocolate for breakfast, let me know! :-)
