Bright Lights Picnic

For the past 3 years, the twins and I have been very blessed to be involved in the Bright Lights ministry! “Bright” stands for “Being Radiant In Godliness, Holiness, and Testimony” and is designed as a Bible study/discipleship group for young ladies. The main purpose of Bright Lights is to encourage young ladies to be strong in the Lord in their youth. We have also been blessed to fellowship with other like-minded young ladies and develop friendships with them.

In early June, we had our second annual “Bright Lights Picnic” at our leader’s house. This picnic is our last official get-together for the school year. We enjoyed traditional picnic-fare of hotdogs, lots of salads, fruit, and a few desserts.

The Moms enjoyed eating on the screened-in porch while the girls chose to eat out in the yard.
This little guy scared many a young lady running through the lawn! J Luckily, he is pretty well protected with that shell.

After dinner, we enjoyed a time of testimonies from several young ladies. I was also able to share a story called “The Fence Dwellers” from the book “Raising Maidens of Virtue” by Stacy McDonald.

After that it was time for games on the lawn! We played the game pictured above, where we had to link arms and run down and up the hill without letting go. We also played a game where two teams filled a pillow case with objects from the yard and the opposite team had to guess the objects by feeling them with their eyes closed. We also played tug-of-war, and had a three-legged race. They were all lots of fun!

After that we were free to enjoy some time of fellowship. I played volleyball with some of the girls while the twins jumped on the trampoline. It was a very special evening and we all look forward to beginning Bright Lights again in the fall!

It was indeed a lot of fun, Amy! We love spending time with the dear friends we've made through the Bright Lights ministry.
