Recipe--Spaghetti Sauce

I think partly because of our Italian heritage, and partly because we LOVE this recipe, spaghetti has become a popular dish around our house. We usually make at least a pound of spaghetti noodles to go along with this sauce recipe and it easily makes 8-9 servings. We hope that you enjoy it!
Spaghetti Sauce

1 pound of ground beef
1 cup of chopped onion (or 1/2 cup dried minced onion)
3 cloves of minced garlic
½ cup of chopped parsley (or 1/4 cup dried)
3 cans (14 oz each) of diced tomatoes
1 can (6 oz) of tomato paste plus 1 can water
2 teaspoons sweetener (honey, sugar, agave nectar, etc.)
2 teaspoons of dried basil leaves
1-1/2 teaspoons of salt
1 teaspoon of dried oregano leaves
¼ teaspoon of pepper

In large pot, brown beef. Drain off fat. Add remaining ingredients. Bring to boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally. Makes 7-8 cups.

Pour sauce over cooked noodles and sprinkle with fresh parmesan cheese! Enjoy!

We really enjoy this recipe, Judith! We just recently began making our own sauce; we used to use store-bought sauce, and we LOVE this recipe so much more than what can be bought! It has a much fresher, spicier taste.
