Going-Away Party

Earlier this month, we had a going-away party for friends of ours who are moving internationally. We have become very good friends over the years. In fact, they drove up north to be with our family on my birthday a few months ago. This was our last time to see them until next summer. L But we had lots of fun to make up for their absence! Here are some pictures from the party:

A few of the girls waiting for the food to be ready (you can see our friend cooking it in the background!)
The boys munched on the chips and salsa while they waited. They ate most of it. J
The delicious picnic spread!
The boys and adults enjoy the meal in the lovely Sunday afternoon sun.
The girls ate at a picnic table in the backyard. We had a fun time visiting!
Best friends!
After lunch, the boys played a game of football. It got quite loud at times!
This little guy won’t be ready for football for a few years yet. J

Meanwhile, the girls and some of the younger boys went to a park near our friend’s house, where the younger ones could burn off steam.

After that, some of the other families left and it was just our family and the 2 other families we’re very close to. While the parents continued talking, all of the kids went to the playground and played “Monkey on the Ground.” It was lots of fun, and really great to spend that extra time with our friends!

But we had to come back in time for dessert! Brownie sundaes with ice cream. . .Mmmm!

Sadly, we had to say goodbye eventually. But we are REALLY looking forward to seeing them when they come back next summer and we’ll hopefully spend lots of time catching up with them!
