There are many things that I regret in life.
Some things I had no control over, such as not being able to say goodbye to my
Grandpa before he died. Other things, I did have control over. I regret times
when I have not realized how much I valued a relationship until I was separated
from that friend.
One of my biggest regrets was one I realized
4 years ago. God convicted me of the fact that I was simply “going through the
motions” in my relationship with Him. I read my Bible and prayed every day, but
it was a ritual,
not a passionate, REAL relationship. I wanted a life full of Jesus, as John
10:10 talks about (“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and
have it to the full.”)
That night, I resolved to change--and by God’s grace and
through His strength--that resolve stuck. God has brought me so far over the
past 4 years, but I still have far to go. One of my greatest goals in life—aside
from bringing glory, honor, and praise to my Savior in everything I do—is to
live without regrets. It requires taking risks. Just one example is loving
people the way Christ loved. When you love, you open yourself up to be hurt
sometimes. But I will never regret showing the love of Christ to someone!
