Dinner with Friends

This past Saturday, we had the pleasure of having several friends and neighbors over for dinner! When my Dad met the couple that built and owned our house here in Texas, he really hit it off with them. Mr. M was a Methodist minister for many years, retired from one large police force and currently works on another force, is at a very high level in karate, and has his own karate studio. Mrs. M is the daughter of our 90-year-old neighbor. This neighbor has 2 other daughters who live on our street, one of whom watches our cats when we’re out of town. Her daughter, A, is also good friends with the twins.

Now that I have successfully confused you, J it’s time for some pictures!

We visited for awhile after all the guests arrived.
For the 6 months that we’ve lived here, we couldn’t figure out how the lights inside our pantry worked. Mrs. M explained that they were battery powered and had a switch on the side. So the ladies spent a good deal of time trying to fix them!
For dinner we had grilled garlic lime chicken, patio potato salad, tomatoes, cucumbers, and fresh mozzarella cheese with homemade vinaigrette, rolls with butter, watermelon, and iced tea.
For dessert, we had oreo ice cream cake! It was a really refreshing, summer-y meal!
The kids had a fun time playing Pictionary with A. It can be a pretty funny game at times! J
Meanwhile, the adults talked downstairs. We talked a lot about world missions, as we are all quite passionate about that!
Our family with Mr. and Mrs. M just before they left.
I had never actually met Mr. and Mrs. M in person, but some of the other family members had. From everything I had heard, I had pretty high expectations of the two of them. But they both far surpassed those expectations! They are truly some of the kindest, most generous, encouraging, and loving people I have ever met! It takes special people to part feeling like old friends only hours after meeting for the first time!

We really enjoyed the opportunity to fellowship with friends! We hope we can have them over more often!

Time does indeed fly, Alexis! Before we know it, we will have lived here a whole year!
