Recipe--One-Bowl Brownies (from scratch!)

As much as I love to experiment with new recipes and ingredients, there are times when I just need a simple, quick, easy recipe to make. Brownies are a common fall-back because we always have the ingredients on hand. This recipe is great because they can be made quickly with little mess. They can also be jazzed-up with some decorations to make them more festive!

One-Bowl Brownies (from scratch!)

¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
¾ cups (1 ½ sticks) butter
2 cups sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
1 cup milk chocolate chips (optional)
Candy corn, halved walnuts or pecans (optional)

Microwave butter in a large microwavable bowl on high for 2 minutes or until butter is melted. Stir in unsweetened cocoa well. Stir in sugar. Mix in eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour and nuts. Spread in greased 13”x9” pan. Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes (DO NOT OVERBAKE.) Cool; makes 24 brownies.

Decorated brownies: While brownies are still warm, sprinkle milk chocolate chips over top. Let soften, then spread evenly. Score brownies. Place garnish on top (a single candy corn or pumpkin candy, or half a nut.) Let cool completely before cutting.
