Visit From Friends

This past Saturday we had some very good friends over. It’s kind of funny because I did a goodbye post about this family last week, but it wasn’t exactly goodbye for good! J We just can’t keep apart for long, especially knowing we won’t get to see each other once we move.

Speaking of the move, WE SOLD OUR HOUSE!!! The amazing part is this: we showed our house over 30 times and had only gotten one low offer. Then my Abuelo called early last week and said he had a dream that we had sold our house. We took that as a good sign, and continued to wait.

Later in the week Dad made a comment. He has been studying the book of Mark and had been contemplating how many times 40 days comes up in the Bible as a period of testing and waiting. He wondered if God would have us wait 40 days to sell our home.

Well, Wednesday we got a good offer on our home! When Mom and Dad did the math later that night, they came to the realization that from the day we put our house on the market to the day we received the offer was 40 days. Isn’t that amazing? It was further confirmation to us that everything about this move is happening in God’s timing. Right now it looks like we will be Texas-bound by the end of the month!

Anyhow, I’m not sure how I got off on that tangent, but I thought ya’ll would like to know. J But back to our friends. Mr. P was the team leader for our missions trip to Haiti, and since we’ve gotten back our families have become really good friends. I have come so close to calling him “Uncle” by mistake a few times. J We really wanted to get together with their whole family a few times before we move.

We got together for a big family dinner of pizza, popcorn, chips and salsa, veggies with dip, fruit salad, pumpkin pie pudding with homemade whipped cream, brownies, cookies, and candy.

The twins had a lot of fun playing with little D. This guy is FULL of energy! If I had half of his energy I would be so much more productive.

The kids also had fun playing games with his older brother G. This game of Monopoly went on for quite awhile!

Later in the evening, Mr. P taught us how to make paper footballs (he seems to be the champion at making these.) He also managed to fix a problem with our computer, which we REALLY appreciate! J It’s nice having your own Geek Squad!

We had a lot of fun throughout the evening laughing, visiting, looking at pictures and catching up with each other. I love their family, and we’re so glad they could come over!

What a surprise it was to stop by your blog recently to find that you all are moving! (I am so behind in my blog reading - now I am enjoying catching up on your blog!) How exciting for you all and what a blessing that you have already sold your house. It looks like you have been enjoying your last days with friends, and I am sure you will treasure those times. I hope all goes well as you continue to prepare to move!

It was so good to see your comment, Sarah! I've missed "seeing' you in the blogging world. :-) Yes, it probably was a bit of a surprise about our move (it's been rather a surprise to us as well.) I've been thinking a lot about you as we will probably pass very close to your town on our way to Texas later this month.

We are VERY excited about selling our house and starting this new chapter of our lives. God's presence has been so evident throughout this entire decision.

We are definitely cherishing the special time we have with friends here in Michigan! They have been such a blessing to us and we will miss them dearly.

Thanks again for your comment! It really brightened my day. :-)

We are definitely praising the Lord on the sale of our home, Alexis! It has been so amazing to see how God has clearly been orchestrating all the events surrounding this move. We too are really excited to see what His plans are for our us!

Thanks so much for your comment, Mr. Geek-Squad, paper-football-maker, adopted Uncle Paul! :-) It brought a smile to my face this evening.

Our time together was definitely fun, and we MUST do it again. Your family is just so much fun! :-)

Congratulations that your house is finally sold! Do you like to pack and are you an organizer? I hope you will enjoy helping your family packing up the whole house. Maybe you should ask your group of friends from church who did Operation Christmas Child shoebox to come help? Maybe you can get the whole house done in one day? :) I'm impressed that your whole group got 18 boxes done in half an hour. How many people were there altogether to do that project?

Thanks for your comment, Leah! Yes, I am a very organized person but simply thinking about packing up our whole house makes my head spin. I am very grateful that my Dad's new company is paying the cost to have a moving company pack everything up. But it's also good knowing that our church family would definitely be willing to help us if we needed it!

I think there was 15 people helping pack the shoe boxes. Many hands make light work! :-)

Well I'm glad you could get used to it, Uncle Paul, because that's what we've been calling you all week. :-) I like it!

We love you too! Look forward to seeing you Saturday!
