Since
it’s so late in the growing season, we pretty much had the orchard to
ourselves. It was kind of nice, because normally the crowds are quite large.

We started off by
browsing in the store and enjoying some fresh donuts. There are not many things
in this world that are as satisfying as a hot fresh donut covered in crunchy
cinnamon sugar! Although Josiah seems to think that powdered sugar is better. J
|

After buying a few
things, we went out to see the animals. We couldn’t pick apples since the crop was
done for the year, but we still had fun! Here everyone is looking at the
chickens. We’re paying close attention to chickens lately because we’d like to
get some in Texas since we’ll have more land.

We were laughing at
this duck with the funny hair. J I LOVE ducks and really
want to get some in the future.

These rabbits were
HUGE! They were even bigger than my cat (ok, so my cat is a 6 pound runt, but
still!) These must be one of the meat breeds of rabbits.

Roma was trying to
pet one of the goats .He gave her a look and snorted at her. She ended up with
a handful of unpleasantness. J At least she had a
good attitude about it!

This guy is excited
about the getting a tractor in Texas. He’s going to need it to keep up with all
the mowing that will need to be done!

Josiah’s legs are so
long now that he has to hold them up on the zip-line. How did this little guy
grow up so fast?

The nice part about
nobody being around is that we could be a little crazy and not feel bad. J

It took us several
attempts to get this picture. Whenever we tried to stand on one leg, someone
would fall off and take two or three people with them. Apparently not everyone
in our family is equally blessed with coordination and balancing skills.

I’m really going to
miss this place. I have a feeling there aren’t many apple orchards in Texas. J
|

On the way home I got
to enjoy a caramel apple. I have to confess, this is only the second caramel
apple I’ve eaten in my entire life. You probably wonder how I missed out after
living in Michigan for the past 15 years. I don’t know why I never tried one
sooner, but they are definitely a favorite now!

That's funny! We just went to an orchard yesterday too! :) We didn't pick apples because it was cheaper to buy them but we still got a nice amount of apples (12 bushels). We make applesauce with them. We ended up going "hiking" too, which was really eating lunch at the parking lot with the stream running by from the waterfall above. :) I'm sure Kimber will be posting about that soon so then you can know why we didn't actually hike on our hiking trip. :)

Ps- Too bad about the election, isn't it? We'll see where this leads us, but in the meantime we'll just have to rely upon the Lord.

It sounds like your family had fun at the orchard as well, Alexis! Apples are very expensive this year. It's good that you were still able to purchase some.
It is too bad about the election, but I trust that it's in God's hands. His plans will still be accomplished in the end!
