Visit with a Friend

On Monday we had the joy of visiting our friend Amy at her house (also known as the Cookie House.) Amy has invited us to visit her several times, and we finally had the opportunity to accept her invitation this week.

When we arrived, she gave us the grand tour of the 1900-era farmhouse. They are fixing it up beautifully! The living room is definitely my favorite room of the whole house. It’s so cozy with their biomass stove (she calls it their Mennonite TV. J)

This is one of the bedrooms upstairs. It’s being used as a photography studio at the moment. The natural lighting is wonderful!

I want to have a door like this in our Texas house. Every time a friend comes to visit Amy, she has them sign her door. It was so much fun to look at all the messages and to add our own!
Several other members of Amy’s family joined us for tea and desserts. I love all of Amy’s beautiful china!
Enjoying our tea and desserts in the living room.
Part-way through our afternoon, we pulled out the computers. I showed them the pictures of our new house in Texas as well as some pictures and videos from our trip to Haiti.

I must say few things in this world are as enjoyable as sitting on a sheepskin by a warm fire (as the cold wind blows outside), having just enjoyed poppy seed cake and hot cinnamon tea, surrounded by good friends! We had a wonderful afternoon! Thank you so much for having us over, Amy! Now you just need to repay the visit once we get to Texas! J
