Vacation Bible School

As previously mentioned, our church recently had its annual Vacation Bible School. I had the privilege of being the official photographer, and I thought I would share a few of my favorite shots with you. Here are just some of the 1,466 pictures I took during the course of 6 days. . .

Every night we opened with songs, a penny drive, quoting Bible verses, and games in the sanctuary.
One of the stations was outdoor games. Here, one of the four groups is participating in a relay race. I love this picture because of the sunlight. J
Another night they played dodge ball inside the church. Yes, you read correctly: inside. You see, we received 7 inches of rain in two days (more on that in a different post) and so things were quite wet. Surprisingly, none of the decorations were ruined and there were only a few injuries (mostly adults, not kids!)
Another station was story time. They had lessons on trusting Jesus, running the race marked out for them (Hebrews 12:1), loving our friends, and fulfilling the mission God has laid out for us (Mark 16:15). Here, they did a skit during the lesson on Hebrews 12:1. It was quite comical with Mr. Shorty pants! J
That night, they had Olympic style games outside. The kids had to run through an obstacle course, and they really enjoyed it.
The preschool and toddlers played in a different section of the church yard. They enjoyed playing in the cubby cars.
This was a neat picture because the background is blurred and the little boy is in focus. It makes it look like he’s going really fast.
Yes, we wrangled everybody for a group picture too! It’s hard fitting 150+ people in the viewfinder of your camera!
Friday night was disguise night, an annual favorite for the kids. Since the movie our VBS is themed on (Cars 2) has a lot about spies (think James Bond), I decided to dress up as a spy with a fedora and aviator sunglasses.
Self portraits using the car mirror.
Roma dressed up as a spy as well and Ruby decided to be a cowgirl.
Little princesses!
Each night the kids made a craft. They created toilet paper tube race cars, lightning bolt key chains, and scratch art cars.
A lot of the helpers seemed to be wearing black hats on disguise night. I guess black seems to go well with a spy theme.
During disguise/spy night, the kids went on a scavenger hunt. In their lesson time, they learned about the 12 spies who went to Canaan in the Old Testament.
After all that hard work, Mom took us out for ice cream! It was very much appreciated.
Sunday morning, the kids sang in church and did another penny drive.

That’s only a small glimpse of our VBS! We had lots of fun and look forward to seeing the children in our church continue to grow in their relationship with the Lord!
